DirecTV Launches Local HD Programming in Little Rock-Pine Bluff, Arkansas

DirecTV started its high-definition programming expansion during August, after the satcasters new satellite DIRECTV 11 reached the orbit successfully during March this year. DirecTV launched 30 new HD channels in August and also started its local HD programming delivery. Now, the satcaster is offering local HD programming to customers in the Little Rock-Pine Bluff, Ark. designated market area. Following are the broadcast networks available for Little Rock-Pine Bluff subscribers in HD:

KATV/ABC
KTHV/CBS
KLRT/FOX and
KARK/NBC

DirecTV subscribers with H20 or H21 HD receiver or an HR20 or HR21 DIRECTV Plus HD DVR and a Ka/Ku band dish normally receives DIRECTV’s local HD programming, DirecTV now delivers high-definition broadcast in 85 cities, which represents nearly 79 percent of U.S. TV households.

After the launch of local HD broadcast in Rock-Pine Bluff, DirecTV also plans to launch 36 more HD local channel markets by the end of 2008. DirecTV, also the leader in providing national high-definition programming with 130 HD channels and with its local HD launches DirecTV will provide local HD broadcast channels in 121 cities, representing more than 88 percent of U.S. TV households.
