Verizon And World Champion Los Angeles Lakers Partner To Offer Super Fan Sweepstakes to Lakers Fans in Southern California

Verizon and the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers have announced that they are offering Southern California fans a chance to win incredible prizes by entering the Super Fan Sweepstakes online contest.

The contest offers a grand-prize package of luxury-suite tickets at STAPLES Center, a behind-the-scenes VIP tour of the Lakers’ practice facility, and the title of honorary captain for a game.

Southern California residents can enter the Super Fan Sweepstakes contest online. After registering, players pick a position on the court from which the online character Ricky “Stretch” Stevens takes a shot at the basket.

Every shot enters the player into the sweepstakes, and players can win bonus entries if Stevens makes the shot. Sweepstakes entrants can take one shot per day and can return to the site on subsequent days to try again.

The Super Fan Sweepstakes grand-prize winner will receive four luxury-suite tickets to the January 7, 2011, Lakers’ game against the New Orleans Hornets at the STAPLES Center; a personal VIP tour of the Lakers’ practice facility; and, as honorary captain, the winner will be on the floor to present the game ball to the Lakers prior to the tipoff.

Two runner-up winners will also receive four luxury-suite tickets each, as well as VIP tours of the practice facility. Super Fan Sweepstakes instant winners will each receive $25 NBA gift cards.

Verizon and Motorola partners to offer consumers a chance to win tickets to one of 10 NFL regular-season games as well as an all- expenses-paid trip to Super Bowl XLV, with the Ultimate Game Day Access sweepstakes.

Fans can now enter the contest online at www.motorola.com/ultimategamedayaccess where they will be asked to select one NFL regular season game for a chance to win tickets to it, after entering their e-mail address and watching a video about Verizon FiOS. Contestants who enter for a chance to see an NFL game in December are automatically entered into the grand-prize raffle of a trip to Super Bowl XLV in Arlington, Texas, on Feb. 6, 2011. The contest kicks off Monday, Sept. 20 and goes through Nov. 30.

Verizon is providing roundtrip airfare, hotel and spending money. The winner will have VIP access during the weekend and experience the big game in the state-of-the art Cowboys Stadium.

This contest enhances Verizon’s already extensive football offering. For example, customers who subscribe to the FiOS TV Ultimate package receive the NFL RedZone channel at no additional cost, providing a look at each play that occurs during Sunday games when a team goes inside its opponent’s 20-yard line. FiOS TV customers can also order the NFL RedZone channel for $49.99 for the entire season.

In addition, Verizon’s FiOS TV customers also have easy access to NFL stats with the Football Widget, which features rosters, player details and headline news from around the NFL – at no additional cost. Subscribers to the NFL RedZone channel can use the widget to set on-screen alerts for whenever a team is inside the 20-yard line, then press “OK” on the remote control and switch to the RedZone channel game action. Verizon FiOS TV Use Chyron Technology To Deliver First 3D NFL Football Game

Verizon delivered the first ever 3D broadcast featuring the New York Giants vs. The New England Patriots on September 2 of an NFL preseason game on television.

Verizon FiOS1 delivered the game using Chyron’s HyperX3 technology to literally bring the game to life exclusively for FiOS TV customers.

Chyron’s revolutionary on-air graphics are the backbone of the FiOS stereoscopic experience and will allow customers in parts of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island to see every graphic pop through the screen into their living rooms. This marks the ninth live 3D sports event powered by Chyron. Others include:

Time Warner And Verizon Partner To Launch Online TV Content

Time Warner and Verizon have partnered to offer new television programming available online to Verizon’s FiOS TV subscribers.

Time Warner and Verizon have announced that FiOS TV subscribers will automatically receive free, unlimited online access to popular content from Time Warner’s Turner networks – TNT and TBS starting June and also plans to bring the same content to mobile devices in the near future.

Verizon is working with a number of content providers to test and make available soon to FiOS customers a significant amount of additional online programming from a variety of content providers, including FOX News, CBS, MTV Networks, Hallmark Channel, Smithsonian Channel, the Tennis Channel and more. These channels will join other online video services already available to FiOS customers. These services include Time Warner’s HBO, which launched HBO Go to FiOS customers in February.

Mike Ritter, chief marketing officer for Verizon, said “Consumers want to access video any time, any place, and Verizon continues to expand our high-quality entertainment services, providing FiOS customers with access and control. Verizon Launches 3G Network in Schoharie County

Verizon Wireless has launched its 3G network in Schoharie County. Verizon’s 3G Network will improve broadband network speed such as picture messaging, text messaging, V CAST and V CAST Music.

Verizon Wireless 3G network delivers average download speeds of 600kbps to 1.4Mb, and average upload speeds of 500-800kbps.

“We’ve always believed even the most advanced device is only as good as the network it runs on. We continue to aggressively invest in our Upstate New York network to increase coverage and capacity for our customers, add new services, and maintain our 3G network leadership” stated Gene Fassett, executive director of network for Verizon Wireless’s Upstate New York region.

Verizon Launches FiOS TV Service in Five More Massachusetts Communities

Verizon Communications has announced the launch of FiOS TV service in five more Massachusetts communities on Sept. 8. Easton, Groton, Hull, Kingston and Wrentham are the Massachusetts communities where FiOS TV service will be offered.

Verizon FiOS TV delivers more than 500 total channels, including 123 HD channels in Massachusetts – more than any local cable TV company, including Cox.

FiOS TV will be available to Massachusetts residents and have the option to reduce their monthly bills by bundling FiOS TV service, FiOS Internet service and the Verizon Freedom Essentials unlimited calling plan.

FiOS TV service highlights include:

Return to Paused Programming – Allows customers to pause live programming, change channels, and then return to the paused program and pick up where they left off.

What’s Hot on FiOS TV – Features information on the most-popular programs currently being broadcast in the region and the most popular VOD titles.

Verizon FiOS TV delivers 123 HD channels available to Massachusetts customers, with extraordinary clarity and theater-quality sound. An industry-leading library of more than 15,000 video-on-demand (VOD) titles each month, 70 percent of which are free. In addition, the VOD library includes 1,400 HD titles per month.

An innovative interactive media guide (IMG) that gives customers a rich, personalized television experience with content from TV listings, VOD catalogs and the digital video recorder (DVR), as well as personal music and photos from a home network. Among the features of the IMG are:

Channel sorting options – Customers can create two separate lists of favorite channels for family members. Customers also can filter channels in the guide by genre, for instances where a customer only may want to see HD content, international channels or kids programming, among others.

Fantasy Football – FiOS TV customers who are registered users of ESPN Fantasy Football will have instant on-screen access to personalized NFL statistics, including rosters, box scores, scoring leaders and player information.

Multi-Room DVR – Verizon’s Home Media DVR allows customers to stream recorded HD and standard-definition (SD) programs to up to six other TV sets throughout the home. This includes the ability to watch three separately recorded shows on three TV sets at the same time, plus pause recorded programming in one room and continue watching in another.

Remote DVR management – All FiOS subscribers can remotely control their DVRs online, and Media Manager subscribers can use this service via any cell phone with a data plan. Subscribers can use the service to remotely review, change or add recording requests; delete recorded programs; browse and search TV and video-on-demand listings; set parental controls; and more.

Widgets – Customers have one-touch, on-demand access to personalized information such as local weather and traffic reports, daily local and national news headlines, fantasy sports, daily national sports headlines, and daily horoscopes, as well as Twitter and Facebook, all while still enjoying their TV programming. More than 500 all-digital channels grouped by genres such as entertainment, sports, news, shopping, movies and family, making it easy for audiences to find their favorite programming.

Verizon To Deliver FiOS TV Service in Hull, Massachusetts

Verizon will provide its FiOS TV service via the most advanced all-digital, fiber-optic network to its customers in Hull, Mass. Verizon has been approved by The Hull Board of Selectmen to deliver video choice for thousands of households in Hull. The Telco will provide its FiOS TV service to 99 of the total number of Massachusetts communities.

Verizon FiOS TV Extends Advertising Representation Agreement With Viamedia

Viamedia is to continue as the advertising sales representative for FiOS TV in select markets. Verizon FiOS TV and Viamedia have signed a renewal arrangement and this will allow Viamedia to provide advertising sales representation services for Verizon in the two largest U.S. ad markets — New York and Los Angeles — as well as operate in Dallas, Tampa, Norfolk, Providence and Buffalo, and in certain other markets when FiOS TV becomes available there.
