STAR India PLUS Launches ‘ICC Cricket World’ And ‘Asian Variety Show’ Targeting Non-resident Indians

STAR India PLUS has launched two weekly show targeting Indian nationals settled in North America. STAR India PLUS is a general entertainment channel of South Asian STAR TV group available on DirecTV and Dish Network. ICC Cricket World and Asian Variety Show (AVS) are expected new programming to be launched.

STAR India PLUS will launch ICC Cricket World on January 16th to offer Cricket news, best of cricket every week. AVS is to debut on February 7 with local events and Bollywood related news.

ICC Cricket World broadcast on every Saturday at 8:30 PM ET will offer STAR India plus Cricket fans in North America a weekly half hour episode exclusive with the latest cricket news, recent cricket action including all Tests, Twenty 20s and One-Day International matches, as well as exclusive off-field features and interviews.

Asian Variety Show broadcast on every Sunday at 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT. produced in North America will be a magazine format show showcasing the best of Bollywood entertainment stories that includes Bollywood Music, movie previews, star interviews with a local focus and programming for Non-resident Indians.

SonicTap To Replace XM Music Channel On DirecTV From February 9, 2010

DirecTV has announced that starting February 9 new music service SonicTap will replace XM/Sirius. SonicTap will provide up to 84 free music channels delivering crystal-clear sound and programming.

DirecTV will be adding 19 new music channels to the lineup on SonicTap.

DirecTV’s local high-definition channels launched in Sherman, Texas-Ada, Oklahoma market area. DirecTV delivers local HD channels in 138 markets, representing more than 92 percent of U.S. TV households. Following are the local HD channels available:

DIRECTV Mas To Launch Latino Programming Package ‘Optimo Mas’ on Sunday, May 17

DirecTV has announced that it’s Spanish and English-language programming pack DIRECTV Mas will be launching Latino programming package Optimo Mas on Sunday, May 17, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at The Conga Room at Los Angeles. Optimo Mas package will be launched on May 17 with Carlos Mencia performing entertainment programming, hosted by Tony Plana and attended by many leading celebrities.

The proceeds of the event will be offered to ECT’s innovative literacy programs and adapted Shakespeare productions to underserved youth throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

Optimo Mas programming package will deliver more than 50 Spanish-language channels, over 100 English-language channels, and 15 HD channels.

DirecTV To Bring ‘The Dan Patrick Show’ On The 101 Network

DirecTV will broadcast ‘The Dan Patrick Show‘ on The 101 Network from 9 a.m. to noon ET, Monday through Friday exclusively. Dan Patrick, a sports talk radio host will bring the talk show to the DirecTV subscribers.

The Dan Patrick Show will expand on the radio show format, using Patrick’s trademark humor and interaction with his production staff to create a unique blend of situational comedy and sports radio commentary. More details about the production will be released at a later date.

“Dan is much taller and funnier in person and when he’s not behind a desk,” said Eric Shanks, executive vice president of Entertainment at DIRECTV. “You never know what Dan could do whenever he is left to his own devices but it sounds like it will be a twisted version of ‘The Office’ with some guests and sports commentary mixed in – at least that’s what he is telling us anyway.”

DirecTV has launched Fox News Channel in high-definition on 17th October. The news channel in high-definition is long awaited by the subscribers and was unhappy when DirecTV missed this channel during the HD expansion. DirecTV was very much in local HD broadcast and delivered in many new markets. DirecTV has about 130 high-definition channels and expected to end up the year with a minimum of 150 national HD channels.
