Rone de Beauvoir’s New Christian Channel Launches on March 29

New Christian channel founded by Celebrity Chef Rone de Beauvoir ‘Joy Christian Television Network‘ will be launched on March 29. The 24 hour channel is to broadcast the message of joy to its viewers. The channel encompasses two overseas satellites, FM Radio Satellite, Israel Tour Company, and original programs.

Rone de Beauvoir said in a statement “The launch of Joy Christian Television is an event of major importance for Joy and for me as its founder. I have lived in 22 countries around the world, lived homeless on the streets for over 1 year and 4 months wearing the same clothes each day, and through it all the Holy Living God sustained me, provided for me, and brought me out to a life I could not have imagined. Because of this and so many other life circumstances that I’ve overcome, I wanted to launch a channel that would first bless the Lord and secondly bless others.”

Spike TV And UFC Jointly Present ‘UFC Fight For The Troops’

Spike TV is teaming with The Ultimate Fighting Championship to broadcast a special three-hour live televised event “UFC Fight For The Troops” on Wednesday, Dec. 10 starting at 9:00 PM, ET. The event is organized to raise funds to build a treatment center for the brave men and women in the United States Armed Forces who have experienced traumatic brain injuries. Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is to sponsor the facility to build treatment center.

“With this event on December 10th, we hope to raise millions for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and to help increase national awareness for the meaningful ways the National Intrepid Center of Excellence will impact the lives of our service personnel here in the United States,” said Dana White, UFC President and Kevin Kay, Spike TV President.

The MGM Channel Launches On Indian Cable Television

Bruce Tuchman, Executive Vice President, MGM Networks has announced that The MGM Channel will be launched in Indian Cable market. STAR DEN, a joint venture between STAR India and DEN Digital Entertainment Network will distribute the channel in Indian market. Under the current agreement, STAR DEN will distribute to over 70 million homes through various direct-to-home satellite platform and also through cable operators. MGM Channel will offer movies from MGM’s celebrated 4,000 title library round the clock. The movies that are coming are Woody Allen’s “Manhattan,” “Network,” “Carrie,” “A Passage to India,” “Midnight Cowboy,” “The Pink Panther Strikes Again,” “Mystic Pizza,” “Desperately Seeking Susan,” and many others.

Tuchman also said “Being backed by STAR India and DEN is the ultimate seal of approval in the eyes of India’s cable operators, and we’re thrilled that we will be distributed as part of STAR DEN’s unrivaled bouquet of channel offerings. By working with STAR DEN, MGM will now have a compelling opportunity to extend and accelerate our channel’s reach throughout the widest possible audience in the large and burgeoning Indian television market.”

Retirement Living TV Appoints Patrick Baldwin As General Manager

Retirement Living TV (RLTV) that is geared toward older residents of the United States has appointed Patrick Baldwin as General Manager. Patrick was previously the Vice President of Strategic Development. During his tenure at RLTV, Baldwin has been instrumental in securing partnerships with AARP and NBC, as well as negotiating distribution deals with Verizon FiOS and a number of other cable providers. He will now handle day-to-day operations for the network and continue to report to Brad Knight, CEO of RLTV.

Stargate Universe Coming On SCI FI Channel

SCI FI Channel has announced that they have reached an agreement with MGM Television Entertainment to produce Stargate Universe. Production of the new series will begin early next year and the show will be premiered during 2009 Summer and Stargate Universe will be launched as a two-hour movie event on SCI FI
Channel. Brad Wright and Robert Cooper, co-creators of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis will serve as executive producers and writers on the new series.

“SCI FI has enjoyed tremendous success with Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, and we’re proud to be the home of the new Stargate Universe,” Mark Stern, executive vice president, original programming for SCI FI, said in a statement. “Universe will continue the Stargate legacy of vibrant storylines and compelling adventures, but will re-invent the format in a whole new way.”

Lifetime Networks, CosmoGIRL, Declare Yourself have announced the winners of the 2008 Future Frontrunners contest for high school and college students to identify and inspire the next generation of women leaders. In support of the contest, “High School Musical” star Vanessa Hudgens lends her voice to a public service announcement (PSA) saluting the winners, airing on Lifetime Networks and myLifetime.com throughout the next month.

Two contestant on the national level, seven from the Denver-area and seven from the Minneapolis/St.Paul-area totaling 16 will receive the once-in-a-lifetime chance to attend the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Denver or the Republican National Convention (RNC) in St. Paul, MN. Katherine Robertson from Tulsa, OK was awarded the all expense paid trip to the DNC.

Lifetime’s Future Frontrunners will attend a leadership boot camp and meet with the country’s top women in politics, business, journalism and advocacy to learn how to impact public policy, and the importance of the women’s vote.
