Cablevision Systems Launches Free VOD Contents From Eight Channels

Cablevision Systems Corporation has announced that it has launched free video-on-demand content from eight channels to iO TV subscribers in New York metropolitan service area. Cablevision has added VOD content of following networks:

Verizon Offers 100 HD Channels in New York Area

Verizon Communications said in a press release on Monday, July 28 that they are offering 100 High-Definition channels in the New York area. Verizon also said that the service will offer 100 HD channels, giving customers more HD than Cablevision or Time Warner Cable. These new HD channels offered are to existing FiOS TV markets in the New York metropolitan area, including parts of Long Island, the suburbs just north of the city, and northern New Jersey.

Cablevision Systems Corporation Started delivering 15 New HD Channels

Cablevision Systems Corporation has announced the launch of 15 new high-definition channels to its iO TV HD line-up on Monday, July 28. Cablevision now offers 60 high-definition channels for its iO TV subscribers for no extra programming fees or equipment. Cablevision’s new addition of 15 new high-definition channels will be completed on August 1, 2008. The new HD channels comes to Cablevision customers before the DISH Networks scheduled launch of 17 new HD channels, which starts from August 1. The Cable operator uses fiber optic network and advanced technology to deliver HD programming has announced that the high-definition expansion will continue and to ultimately deliver all of the channels it carries in HD. Cablevision started adding following HD channels from Monday :
AMC HD, Animal Planet HD, Discovery Channel HD, Fox News HD, FX HD, Hallmark Movie Channel HD, IFC HD, Nickelodeon HD, Science Channel HD, Speed Channel HD, Spike HD, The Weather Channel HD, TLC HD, Travel Channel HD and WE HD.

Cablevision To Deliver 15 HD Channels in August

Cablevision Systems Corp has announced that the cable operator will launch 15 new high-definition channels in July. Cablevision announcement came at the right time as DirecTV is to start its HD expansion and will deliver 50 or more HD channels and other operators like Time Warner, Verizon FiOS are delivering more HD channels.

Cablevision has announced that the new HD channels will be added starting from the end of July (probably 28th) and will be available to iO TV digital cable customers at no additional cost from August 1. Cablevision will add all the new HD channels to its 1.1 million customers who have at least one high-definition TV and HD-enabled set-top box. Including these channels Cablevision’s high definition lineup will be 60 HD channels. Cablevision Systems Corp has not revealed all the 15 HD channels to be launched but will include following HD channels :

AMC

Animal Planet

Discovery Channel

FOX News Channel

Hallmark Movie Channel

Nickelodeon

The Weather Channel

Travel Channel and

WE TV

“With our nation poised to celebrate the holiday that marks our freedom, we thought it was a perfect time to announce even more free HD for our iO TV digital cable customers,” said John Trierweiler, Cablevision senior vice president of product management, in a statement. “Free HD has become an important competitive differentiator of our digital-cable service, and with these additions iO TV customers will have access to
60 of the best HD channels at no additional cost, including all of the HD games of all nine New York-area professional sports teams.”
